Dunham Massey

Greater Manchester

A former royal residence that is home to a 300-acre deer park - makes for a perfect family day out, whatever the season!

Explore the Grounds

Be sure to have a wander around the manor house and explore all of the the history within.

Fun fact, the 1986/1991/1994 film series of Sherlock Holmes was filmed here!

The surrounding red brick buildings are also a spectacular sight and there is a little café that is the perfect pit stop for a coffee and cake.

You will also find the big visitor centre located at the car park where you will find the main café and shop.

Wildlife

The surrounding park offers a beautiful walk.

If you're luck you will spot the deer roaming around. Although we don't recommend getting to close, they have become rather accustomed to visitors, so you will be able to get some great pics!

The park is also home to ancient trees, owls, bats, buzzards, ducks, meadow ants and rare species of beetles, just to name a few.

In other words, the perfect place for nature loves!

If you have your little pooch with you, please be sure to keep them on the lead as to not run after any of the wildlife.

How to get there

Located in Altrincham, Greater Manchester just off the A56.

For the main car park, please head to WA14 4SJ.

The car park is free for National Trust members, so if you would prefer free parking, we would recommend trying to find a space on Woodhouse Lane near The Dunham Barn, WA14 4TR.

Events

The park is home to many events, with the most popular being the Christmas lights.

Follow a magical trail through the gardens and witness all of the twinkling lights the show has to offer.

Also be sure to check out the burger stand that is ran by the local farm shop, Little Heath - they are not to be missed!!
