Shutlingsloe, Macclesfield

Situated near the village of Wildboarclough, Shutlingsloe is nicknamed the "Matterhorn of Cheshire" due to it's similar shape.

The peak sits at 506m making it the second highest in the county and the views from the top make this walk a must!

Family Friendly

If you're a novice like me, you may find the walk quite strenuous, but trust me when I say the views are worth it (even though I chose the gloomiest of days...)!!

It's a steady climb and the paths are easy to navigate making the walk perfect for the little ones and dogs.

Be Prepared!

Whilst it's not a long walk, don't forget your butty and coffee. Before the smiles there was pain, I forgot how hot my drink was...

See if you can find my favourite spot for a pit stop - clue, it's off the side once your reach the peak and it's shaped like a little crater!

Make sure you've also got enough layers, especially in the winter months as it can get quite windy at the top. If you need any fashion inspo, I am wearing my favourite walking jumper from HELVETII... check out the link below!

Where to Start?

Parking up... You want to head over to Macclesfield Forrest where you will find Trentabank Car Park.

Just a heads up, it's a pay and display!

Let's get walking... The route is relatively well signposted, so you shouldn't get lost (fingers crossed!!).

You're going to find a steady climb which takes you up and out of the forest where you will then see the hill.

At the top... Be sure to take in the views and snap a few pics for the gram!

Don't forget to tag #HELVETII #OutdoorGirls.

Finishing off... The walk heads down and back under the shelter of Wildboarclough.

You're going to follow the path, where you will find a gentle climb through Oaken Clough before dropping down again where you will find the Hanging Gate Inn.

From there just follow the road back to the car park!
