Getting There
You want to head to Fairholmes Car Park at the Upper Derwent Visit Centre.
There is a £6 charge for the day.
The postcode is: S33 0AQ
The coordinates are: 53.39699, -1.74056

Getting Started...
Head out of the car park and turn left.
From there, you want to take the first path on your right and follow it straight up until you reach a road.
Take a left and follow the road until you reach Lockerbrook Farm Outdoor Centre.
Conintue past the centre until you reach a path on your right handside that leads upto a stile. Once over, you will enter into a field that is usually full of sheep.
This is now one long path that takes you all the way to Alport Castles.
Be careful and come prepared, this path can become quite treacherous and swamped, plus the wind can really pick up so don't get blown away!

Alport Castles...
Believed to be the largest landslip in England, the views are honestly breath taking.
The towering mound gives the castle-like appearance. If you plan on climbing to the top, be careful and mindful of the weather conditions!
We recommend sticking to the right once you reach the site, you can explore from higher ground first before dropping down into the rocky formation.
There are many spots here that are sheltered from the wind making them perfect for a spot of lunch.

Heading Back...
To continue the walk, head back to the entrance point to Alport Castles and follow the path leading downhill.
Be ready to get your cameras back out...
Follow the path down to Alport Castles Farm where you will then take a left.
The path will run adjacent to the river before reaching the main road, A57, where you will cross over and head to the dam.
Keep following the path, it will take you back across the main road and after a short climb you will be back into the woods.
You can either head back the way you came past the outdoor centre or take the path on your right, both lead you back to the car park.
