Winter Sunset
Spekes Mill, North Devon
This one is for you sunset lovers!
A 20 minute walk along the North Devon Coast Path which takes you on a kind of durasic journey with visuals of the dramatic coastline ahead.
Heavenly
There is a reason this walk is one of our favourites, just look at the view...
The intimacy and seclusion will take your mind to a place not of this earth. So make sure you take it all in!
The walk itself isn't very challenging and it focusses on a stretch of coast path between Hartland Quay and Spekes Mill Mouth.
Where to Start?
How to get there... The two nearest main towns are Bideford and Bude. Simply enter Hartland Quay into the satnav and follow parking instructions below.
Where can I park... Heading down the hill of Hartland Qauy, take the first sharp left into the 'top' car park. What 3 words: ///debater.wink.shook
Is Parking free... Depending on the time of year, parking is FREE. In the summer months there is a £3 charge for all day parking.
Where does the walk start... Turn and make sure you are looking at the sea, towards the horizon. Turn left and walk towards the cliff edge. Here you will find some steps upto a path which leads to a gate.
If you want a brisk 20 to 30 minute walk with one hill, then follow the path and turn around whenever you please!
If you want more of a challenge then you can make a meal out of this walk by continuing along the coast path before heading back to the car following the idyllic country lanes.
Top Tips!
Firstly, make sure you wear appropriate footwear, especially in the winter - the footpath can be uneven and skiddy due to loose gravel!
We would recommend taking one of our sitting pads so you don't get a wet bum!
And don't forget your snacks - but make sure you take all of your litter with you...
